Restoration at the Orsay

I was in Paris last week and apart from being visually inspired till my eyes bled. I saw this little gem at the Musee d’Orsay, it was a very large canvas, that was being restored, the white bits of sticky tape you see on it were presumably the bits that were being restored, or just underneath the bits that required restoration.

Anyway, the point is such a flagrant intervention of a classic painting is very interesting and striking, as is the glitch, if it were intervening on a canvas.

I keep wondering how i can modify a classic countryside painting.
